FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK IS AWARDED BEST GREEN CAR NON-HYBRID IN AUTOBILD AWARD 2008

Wednesday, November 26, 2008

JAKARTA – 26 November 2008 – Ford Motor Indonesia’s Focus Hatchback is awarded the Best Green Car Non Hybrid from Autobild Award 2008. This reinforces Ford’s global leadership as a pioneer in green automotive fuel technology. It also underscores Ford Motor Indonesia’s strategy to keep delighting its Indonesian customers with a powerful product line-up that demonstrates its expertise in green technology and bio-fuel innovation.

Autobild magazine is recognized as one of the leading automotive publications in Indonesia. In addition to Best Green Car Non-Hybrid, other categories in this annual award are Best Green Car Hybrid, Most Innovative Technology, Best Fuel Consumption and Best Handling.

Commenting on this award, Will Angove, President Director of Ford Motor Indonesia stated, ”We are proud that our Ford Focus Hatchback is recognized by Autobild magazine as Best Green Car Non-Hybrid. This is an acknowledgement of Ford’s work in developing hybrid technology, its leadership in the usage of corn for fuel (ethanol) and the application of hydrogen transportation systems.”

Besides Ford Focus Hatchback, all other Ford vehicles are bio fuel enabled. Henry Ford, the founding father and pioneer of Ford Motor Company, began the study of bio-fuel as an alternative fuel source more than 100 years ago. In keeping with this pioneering spirit, Ford Motor Company introduced the world’s first flex-fuel engine, as seen in the 2006 Ford F250 Super chief concept, the first hybrid sport-utility vehicle, the Ford Escape Hybrid.

Meanwhile Hendra Noer Saleh, Editor in Chief of Autobild magazine commented, “We all need to be aware that stepping into the future, we need to eventually increase the usage of bio-fuel in place of non-renewable gas. We are thrilled to learn that Ford as a prominent automaker produced the Ford Focus E20 - which can consume up to 20% of environmentally-friendly bio fuel. This proves that Ford is turning our hope for a greener world into reality”. Will adds, “Ford will continue to design products that make positive contribution to the environment. Vehicles that meet the demands of a bolder and greener generation of consumers who want products that provide exciting driving pleasure while allowing them to be environmentally conscious.”
