Body Strengths
Improved body strength combined with lightweight impact technology makes Ford Focus one of the safest cars on the road. The high-strength steel cabin includes laser-welded panels surrounded by energy absorbing zones. An advanced chassis safety system allows components to move under the floor in the event of an impact. Further cross-beams and reinforcements add to the overall strength. Every detail has been carefully considered, even in areas you might not expect. The pedals, for example, have been engineered to minimise potentially harmful movement in the event of an impact.
Airbags
Advanced airbag technology means you're cushioned from harm. Full-size airbags for the driver and front passenger are standard on all models, designed to work as an integrated system with the seat belt pre-tensioners and limiters. * Note: a child seat should never be placed in the front passenger seat when the vehicle is equipped with an operational front passenger airbag. The safest place for children is properly restrained on the rear seat.
Intelligent Safety System
Ford Focus uses premium-level technology to keep an eye on your personal safety.Intelligent Protection System (IPS) is a network of features connected with a computer processor. It constantly monitors conditions to keep you and your passengers safe when it matters at all times.
And if needed, within milliseconds, IPS assesses the severity of an impact and activates the appropriate technology.
Full-size driver and front passenger airbags* are standard on all models. The seat belts feature both pre-tensioners and retractors, and the steering column, brake and clutch pedals are built to absorb force and collapse out of the way - all providing further safety and peace of mind.
IPS means you can relax, secure in the knowledge that your car is now even safer.
Braking System
If there's one part of a car that demands the highest levels of confidence, it's the brake system. The Ford Focus has larger, thicker brake discs at all four corners - usually only found on larger cars. They're precision-built to stop the car quicker when it counts, for the reassurance you'd expect of a premium-quality car.
The Anti Lock Braking System (ABS) means absolutely no locking wheels - no matter how hard you need to brake, while also ensuring stability and improving grip in non-emergency situations.
The Ford Focus delivers excellent levels of braking control and confidence.
Isofix Child Seat Systems
If you have little ones to move around, you'll know how important their safety is to you. That's why ISOFIX child seats* can be fitted to the new Focus to give you additional peace of mind.
An ISOFIX child seat is specially attached to the rear row seating with reinforced anchor points. And above all, the system ensures a very strong and stable seat attachment.
An ISOFIX child seat is certified to be the safest option for use in the new Ford Focus. And it provides the highest possible level of reassurance when your most precious cargo is on board.
